The Committee for Information and Research in Geomedicine was established in 1984 on the initiative of Professor Jul Låg, of the Norwegian College of Agriculture. At that time he was President of the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters. The Committee is multidisciplinary and has representatives from professional fields such as medicine, veterinary medicine, chemistry, geology and soil science. The Committee also constitutes the Board of the Fund for Geomedicine under the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters.
The Committee of Geomedicine is chaired by Harald Siem, the Directorate of Health and Social Affairs.
