At the membership meeting on Thursday, September 13, it was decided that Hans Petter Graver will succeed Ole M. Sejersted as President of the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters.
Graver is Professor of Law at the Department of Private Law at UiO. He is the former Dean of the Law faculty at UiO. Graver is currently the principle investigator of the research project "Judges under Stress – the Breaking Point of Judicial Institutions" funded by the Research Council of Norway. His scientific work includes books and articles across a wide range of topics, among other things on administrative law, sociology of law, legal history, philosophy of law, and argumentation theory and rhetoric.

Gunn Elisabeth Birkelund succeeds Camilla Serck-Hanssen as Vice President and Chairman of The Humanities and Social Sciences Division until December 31, 2019 (the remaining part of the period). Serck-Hanssen has resigned as Vice President and Division Chairman from September 1, 2018, and now holds the position as research director at the Center for Advanced Study (CAS) in Oslo.
Anders Elverhøi continues as Vice President and Chairman of The Natural Sciences Division.
